Free online memory card game
Memory Match is the classic pairs game - also called Concentration, Pelmanism or simply "Memory". All the cards lie face down. Turn over two: if the pictures match, the pair stays open; if they do not, both turn back and you try to remember where each one was. Find every pair and the board is cleared. The fewer moves it takes you, the better - the move counter above the board keeps score, and your best result on each level is saved.
Three board sizes
The levels differ in how many cards there are to remember, and each is worth a different number of points:
| Level | Cards | Pairs | Grid | Points |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Easy | 16 | 8 | 4 × 4 | 1 |
| Medium | 24 | 12 | 4 × 6 | 2 |
| Hard | 36 | 18 | 6 × 6 | 3 |
A move is one pair of cards turned over. With perfect luck a board takes exactly as many moves as it has pairs; good memory gets an Easy board done in about 12 to 16 moves, Hard in about 30 to 40.
Hand-drawn cards
Every picture in the deck was drawn for this game: a sun and a moon, a rocket and a planet, cherries, a cactus, a crown and more - eighteen in all. Each game picks a different set, so an Easy board is not always the same eight pictures, and the shapes differ in outline as well as colour, so they are easy to tell apart even at a glance.
Made for the phone
Tap a card to turn it. The board is sized to fit on one screen, with the cards as large as the space allows, and when you turn a wrong pair you do not have to wait for it: tap the next card and the pair goes back down at once. On a computer, click the cards or move between them with Tab and the arrow keys and turn them with Enter. Light and dark themes follow your device and can be switched at any time.
Good for your memory
Memory games train short-term visual and spatial memory - holding a picture and a place in mind at the same time. That makes Memory Match a good few minutes for adults and a favourite for children, who are often better at it than their parents.
