On Friday at 5 p.m. Byte said: “I’m shipping one tiny fix and then
we’re going to dinner.” Then the lights went out in the flat, and smoke shaped like
a heart drifted out of the socket.
Maria grabbed a thermos of coffee, put the insoles back in her boots
and followed the cable. Twelve worlds later, someone is still typing.

About the game
Maria and the Missing Coder is a free platformer that runs in your browser -
nothing to install, no account to create. You run, jump, collect coffee beans and stomp
Buglets. It is built for phones first: big thumb-sized buttons, two-finger support and
crisp pixels at any screen size.
What is in it
Twelve worlds - from a garden through cable tunnels, the cloud and a legacy attic to the neon night build, staging orbit and the deadline core.
Three kinds of enemies plus the Great Deadline waiting at the end.
An energy drink that lets Maria shoot debugging sparks - and it carries over
into the next stage as long as she does not get knocked down.
Coffee and hearts that carry over - your beans keep counting from stage to
stage, every fiftieth one is a new heart, and the hearts you still have travel with you.
Moving platforms that matter - a drawer ferries you across lava too wide to
jump, a lift is the only way up to the coffee under the ceiling.
All progress is saved in your own browser. We never send it anywhere.
Where it comes from
This is an original production. The graphics are generated in code, pixel by pixel, the sounds
are synthesised live through Web Audio, and every character, name, world and story beat is ours.
The game is inspired by the classic platformers of the 1980s - by the genre, not by any
particular title - and it is not affiliated with any existing brand or company. Details in the
Terms of Service.
